TL;DR
Travel planning has gotten complicated. Between endless online opinions, changing travel requirements, and trying to figure out what’s actually worth your money, many families are realizing they don’t want to spend hours planning a trip only to second guess every decision. That’s a big reason travel advisors are making a comeback in 2026.

“Can’t I Just Book It Myself?”

I mean…technically? Sure. But travel has changed SO much over the last few years.

There are more options than ever, more information online, and way more moving pieces than people realize until they’re already in the middle of planning.

And while I love a good Google search as much as anyone else, there’s a big difference between reading reviews online and actually understanding how a trip is going to feel once you’re there.

That’s especially true for bigger trips like: African safaris, multi-country Europe itineraries, Disney vacations, luxury cruises or really any trip where you’re spending a significant amount of money and want the experience to actually feel worth it.

Because the reality is, beautiful photos online don’t always tell the whole story.

The Internet Gives You Information. Experience Gives You Perspective.

One of the biggest things I hear from clients is: “I started researching and immediately got overwhelmed.”

Hear me when I say this…I get it! You start looking at resorts and suddenly there are 47 tabs open on your computer and every TikTok is telling you something different.

One person says you HAVE to stay at one property. Then another says it’s overrated, someone else says the location is terrible. Then you start second guessing everything. (Right?)

That’s usually the point where people reach out to me. Not because they can’t physically book the trip themselves, but because they want someone to help narrow down what actually makes sense for their family and their travel style.

Because not every “best luxury resort” is actually the best fit for every traveler. And that’s the part people don’t fully understand until they travel more.

The Little Details Shape the Entire Trip

Most travel mistakes aren’t huge catastrophic problems. They’re usually smaller decisions that slowly start affecting how the trip feels once you’re there.

Maybe it’s booking the wrong area during a certain season. Maybe it’s choosing a hotel because it looked beautiful online, only to realize it doesn’t really match your travel style in real life. Sometimes it’s underestimating how exhausting long transfer days can be or trying to fit too much into one itinerary because you don’t want to miss anything.

Those little things add up. And when they’re not planned thoughtfully, the trip can start to feel more stressful than relaxing.

When the pacing is right, the locations make sense, and the trip is designed around how you actually like to travel, everything feels different. You’re more relaxed, more present, and just more excited to be there instead of constantly trying to figure things out as you go.

People Want More Than Just a Vacation Now

One thing I’ve noticed recently is that people are traveling more intentionally. Families are planning trips they’ve dreamed about for years. Parents are taking their kids on experiences they’ll remember forever. Couples are prioritizing bucket-list destinations now instead of waiting for “someday.”

And when people are investing in trips like that, they want them done well.

Not cookie-cutter, or rushed or thrown together from random internet recommendations or viral videos they see on Instagram. They want experiences that actually feel personal. Which means resorts that have amenities and features that your kids will love! Or a cruise that has programming that your teens will actually want to go to! It means choosing lodges and camps in Africa that align with your conservation priorities. These are things that require real-life experience to fully understand.

Relationships Matter More Than Most People Realize

One thing people don’t always see behind the scenes is how important relationships are in travel. The guides, drivers, lodge manager, teams on the ground, etc. Those people shape your experience just as much as the destination itself.

When I travel, I pay attention to all of it and spend significant time cultivating relationships with the teams at the properties I visit. So it’s not just about the beautiful properties, but how the staff interacts with guests, how the guides handle unexpected situations, how the pacing of the itinerary feels, and what makes one experience stand out from another.

Because when I’m planning a trip for a client, I’m not just picking places that “look nice online”. I’m recommending people and experiences I genuinely trust. And honestly, that makes all the difference!

Why Travel Advisors Are Growing Again

I think people are realizing that travel advisors aren’t about “booking a trip.” They’re about helping you avoid overwhelm. Helping you make better decisions and creating a trip that actually fits you.

Especially now, when travel has become more expensive and more experience-driven, people want guidance from someone who’s actually been there. And that’s why I think more families are turning back to travel advisors in 2026.

Not because they can’t plan trips themselves. But because they don’t want to spend months stressing through the process when they could have someone help make it easier. If you’ve been dreaming about your next trip but aren’t sure where to start, I’d love to connect and help you start planning something truly special.
